The PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) was a major poker tour that operated from 2008 until 2016.
It was one of four global poker tour sponsored by PokerStars alongside the European Poker Tour, Asia-Pacific Poker Tour and North American Poker Tour.
The tour ran for nine seasons featuring stops in countries such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.
LAPT Season 1 (2008)
The inaugural LAPT season featured three stops in Spring and Summer of 2008.
Event | Country | Winner | Payout |
LAPT Rio de Janeiro | Brazil | Julien Nuijten | $222,940 |
LAPT San Jose | Costa Rica | Valdemar Kwaysser | $274,103 |

LAPT Season 2 (2008-09)
The second season of the LAPT saw the tour expand to five stops across five different countries. The second season is perhaps most well-known for the cancellation of LAPT Nuevo Vallarta in Mexico. The tournament was brought to a halt with 89 players remaining after being broken up by local authorities due to unknown reasons.
LAPT Season 3 (2009-10)
The third season of the LAPT was notable not only for another cancellation - this time Viña del Mar, Chile due to an earthquake - but the two wins of Nacho Barbero, who became the first player to win two titles on the LAPT. What's more exciting, is that his wins came back-to-back, just four months apart.
LAPT Season 4 (2011-12)
The fourth season was the first time the LAPT visited Colombia, with the festival breaking the record for largest LAPT Main Event in history with 681 players (surpassing LAPT Vina del Mar earlier in the season).
LAPT Season 5 (2012)
LAPT Season 6 (2013)
LAPT Season 7 (2014)
In July 2014, Fabian Ortiz became the second two-time LAPT champion alongside fellow Argentinian Nacho Barbero. He won LAPT Panama for $143,930.
This season also marked the departure of Humberto Brenes from Team PokerStars Pro Latin America.
LAPT Season 8 (2015)
In 2014, it was announced that the LAPT Grand Final originally scheduled to be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay would be moved and form part of the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).
Also, just one year after winning LAPT Chile for his first LAPT title, Mario Javier López won his second title at LAPT Chile, becoming only the third player to win multiple LAPT titles.
